I See... Why I Am Not Super Gooey Sappy on Valentines Day

If there was ever a day to be SGS, super gooey sappy, it would be Valentines Day. My wife and I have every reason to be super gooey sappy on this day- I proposed marriage to her on a Valentine's Day weekend. However, after a few initial years of cuddlebuns, loverlips, sweetie pie, baby cakes, boo boo bear, cutie little wootie, foofie poops, honey sugar baby pie, and perfect little beautiful sweet heart princess; after the heart-shaped pizzas and the twenty-dollar monster v-day cards as large as blackboards, I found two good reasons to stop being super gooey sappy:

1) Apotoslic Direction:- Although Elder Bednar taught this principle in general conference last fall, I've been practicing it for years. “The relationship between love and appropriate action is demonstrated repeatedly in the scriptures and is highlighted by the Savior’s instruction to His Apostles: “If ye love me, keep my commandments”. Just as our love of and for the Lord is evidenced by walking ever in His ways, so our love for spouse, parents, and children is reflected most powerfully in our thoughts, our words, and our deeds.”

I try to say “I love you” on a daily basis, but I also try harder to pick up my stinky socks, put down the lid on the toilet seat, and remember to take the trash out on Thursday evenings before she has to remind me that it's trash night. When it comes to love, I try to walk the walk.

2) My wife told me to stop. She hates it.
